What 90 minutes a day buys you
At this pace my estimate for Jan 2 is roughly 605 to 645. The Jan 23 retake, plus the Superscore, is the realistic shot at 675. Your 515 came from a cold first attempt, so your real starting point is probably somewhat higher.
Two ways to close the gap: add a second 90-minute block on winter break days (Dec 19 to Jan 1 adds about 21 hours), and treat the practice exams as gates. If Exams 5 and 6 both come in under 635, move Test 1 back.
The weekly shape
Quant is your weakest section (20th percentile) and Data Insights uses the same math, so about half the time goes there. From Phase 3 the learning days become full timed sections.
Key dates
Session rules
- Run a timer for every block. Timed blocks mean real test pace: about 2:08 per Quant question, 2:15 per Data Insights question, 1:57 per Verbal question.
- Every miss goes in the error log: date, source, section, topic, why you missed it (concept, careless, or timing), and the fix. Sundays run on it.
- Review guesses the same way you review misses. A lucky right answer is still a gap.
- Check a block off only when you finished it. If you miss a day, use Catch up on the Today tab when you actually make it up.
Test rules worth knowing
- Three 45-minute sections (21 Quant, 23 Verbal, 20 Data Insights), in the order you choose, with one optional 10-minute break. You can bookmark questions and change up to 3 answers per section.
- Each section is scored 60 to 90 and the total runs 205 to 805. Your diagnostic was Q72 V79 DI75 = 515. A 675 needs the three section scores to add up to roughly 250 (for example 84, 83, 83).
- Up to 5 attempts in any rolling 12 months, with at least 16 calendar days between appointments. Jan 18 is the earliest retake after Jan 2.
- After each test you get 5 free score sends, used within 48 hours of the Official Score posting. Extra reports cost $35.
- Superscore: if your best sections come from different test days, GMAC combines them and includes that Superscore, with each section's test date, on every report you send. You can't opt out. If one sitting holds all three of your best sections, there is no separate Superscore.
- Fees: $275 at a test center, $300 online. Rescheduling a test-center exam costs $55 more than 60 days out and $110 at 15 to 60 days out.

Claude as your tutor
AI fills the teaching role a paid course would. Use it to explain misses, reteach a rule, and spot patterns in your error log. Two rules: try every problem yourself before asking, and check its math against the official explanation, because AI can make arithmetic mistakes. For timed practice, use real Official Guide questions, not AI-written ones, since AI questions aren't calibrated to GMAT difficulty.
